American accentIn this<a href="http://www.manythings.org/listen/handwashing/" target="_blank"> link </a>you can listen and repeat a text where you are advised to wash your hands as many times as you want to improve your pronunciation. Notice the American accent. Also you can learn and revise new vocabulary.<br />
<br />
And then you can watch and follow the transcript of one of the last President Barak Obama's speeches to its nation:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFUzs_KK4JZsvBaplXQGnoh0WceHwPrxTC9rPMcm69Bnwz9bQ6LIgFAtf9OmEBhZPp4UneNJZA8fjAaJd35QkJnuVtsFg5DaRT2hfcd-JF7eIyIlPREqlFMhhbeMMS-Lis3DG76xF8APY/s1600/modals.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFUzs_KK4JZsvBaplXQGnoh0WceHwPrxTC9rPMcm69Bnwz9bQ6LIgFAtf9OmEBhZPp4UneNJZA8fjAaJd35QkJnuVtsFg5DaRT2hfcd-JF7eIyIlPREqlFMhhbeMMS-Lis3DG76xF8APY/s320/modals.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
We are back to our lessons again. Last year we learnt the use of modal verbs shall/should/may/might/could/have to/must/ needn't/couldn't to express:<br />
<ul>
<li>obligations and prohibitions </li>
<li> duties and necessity</li>
<li> future possibilities</li>
<li> ask permission</li>
<li> ask for and offer help and advice</li>
<li> make requests and invitations </li>
</ul>
Click on the<a href="http://www.eslgamesworld.com/members/games/grammar/New_Snakes_%20Ladders/Mixed_Modals.html" target="_blank"> link </a>to play the snakes and ladders' game to revise. Remember that modals are never followed by infinitive with "to" , they have no -s/-es for third person singular and never use auxiliaries for negative and interrogative sentences.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaFhGbF73AHz-hXA2M72JJNThemX9O5wnXI2RUGXcimanjxl1mZ6jJrizhok-rHFTpdnTr2KpFALdHMEYTEDK92czYpEuGi3aAZe0v-fmtA0M3VHDdBI2QmD9Z_-HbwBr03obvi7vODpg/s1600/modal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaFhGbF73AHz-hXA2M72JJNThemX9O5wnXI2RUGXcimanjxl1mZ6jJrizhok-rHFTpdnTr2KpFALdHMEYTEDK92czYpEuGi3aAZe0v-fmtA0M3VHDdBI2QmD9Z_-HbwBr03obvi7vODpg/s1600/modal.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On the website from British council you cann practise and learn about rules and examples.Do the exercises below: <br />
<ul>
<li>To revise the modal verbs of <b>obligation </b>click <a href="http://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/modal-verbs-of-obligation.html" target="_blank">here. </a></li>
<li>To express permission, obligation, non obligation...practise <a href="http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/grammar-reference/modals-1" target="_blank">this exercise</a>. </li>
<li>If you want to learn more about the use of modals to<b> express deduction</b> follow<a href="http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/grammar-reference/modals-%E2%80%93-deduction-present" target="_blank"> this link</a> and to express deduction in the past do <a href="http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/grammar-reference/modals-%E2%80%93-deduction-past" target="_blank">this exercise</a>.</li>

We have just started our lessons and I think it's a good idea to practise all the skills of the language. Today I'd like you to have a<a href="http://www.esl-lounge.com/student/listening/2L1-the-charity-show.php"> listening comprehension</a> . Open the audio in a different window to read and answer the questions. Remember to listen to the audio at least twice . If you <a href="http://www.esl-lounge.com/student/listening/2L1-the-charity-show-transcript.php">click here </a>you can read the transcript but...don't do it until you have finished trying.English Teacherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17944184288058349982noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1041045146499930292.post-82607461835891441782012-10-02T14:19:00.003-07:002012-10-02T14:36:52.792-07:00Comparative and superlative .
